Thanks so much for your warm welcome back! I've been busy gathering all the blogs I follow into Google Reader. Everyone's been scattered about on Bloglines, Google Reader or in my bookmarks and it's nice to have you all in one place.
This autumn, I decided to forgo my usual reds and oranges for a more neutral palette in creams and black. I'm obsessed with white baby boo pumpkins and have them scattered everywhere. Because they're small, they're easy to tuck into urns and containers.
Okay, I've used a little bit of orange (the little "seed" pumpkin under the cloche!) but the colour is muted so it works. I found the black metal crow and tin star at a craft sale and the white urn was a garage sale find.
The pink in the dried hydrangeas still works because I've kept all the colours muted. If I'd used orange pumpkins, I would have had to replace my hydrangeas.
I love this picture and it was so easy to make! The red maple leaves were so pretty and I wanted to somehow display them. First I pressed them then glued them to a page from a vintage book which I'd cut to fit the frame. I lightly "aged" the edges of the page with ink then popped it all into a vintage frame. Instead of hanging it on the wall, it now sits on a chair with some old books.
I've been using a lot more natural and vintage items in my decor. I'll be keeping my autumn theme up until American Thanksgiving and then I'll start bringing out Christmas. I still haven't decided on a theme or colour but I know I want to do things differently this year. I've done red and gold ever since we moved here and it's time for a change.
Until next time!
